Valerie is the archetypal plantswoman having spent many years studying plants and gardens across the UK and abroad. Now she specialised is designing with plants, exploring and adapting new styles of planting to suit the needs of each garden and client. Her formal training was at Writtle college near Chelmsford and Long Road College in Cambridge.
She has taught for many years and currently runs courses in the Cambridgeshire area on subjects as diverse as ‘Vertical Planting’ and ‘Redesigning Your Garden’. She also set up Hertfordshire’s Arts Education Agency to provide support and advice to art projects in the region. These interests have combined to lead to Valerie being called upon to design outdoor spaces for schools, colleges and children’s homes.
